Who we are
ACS Media Group (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates acsmediagroup.com supporting Relay For Life of Second Life. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly. If you sign up for a staff account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in using “Sign in with Google,” Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us โ we never see or store your Google password.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our server automatically logs basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. If you log into a staff account, WordPress sets standard session cookies to keep you signed in securely.
Your theme preference. If you switch between dark and light mode, that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage, not a cookie. It stays on your device only and is never sent to our servers.
We do not run a donation or payment system on this site. Our Donate button links directly to the American Cancer Society’s official donation page โ any payment or financial information you provide there is collected and handled by the American Cancer Society, not by us. We encourage you to review their privacy policy separately.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Operate and secure staff login accounts
- Display public staff profiles that staff members choose to publish (bio, photo, schedule, social links)
- Maintain the basic technical operation and security of the site
- Respond to questions sent to us directly (e.g., via Discord or email)
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use only the cookies required for the site to function โ primarily WordPress’s own login/session cookies for staff accounts. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies of our own. Embedded content (see below) may set its own cookies that we don’t control.
Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
Our site links to or embeds content from several third-party platforms, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- YouTube โ we embed live streams and videos directly from YouTube. Google/YouTube may collect data according to Google’s Privacy Policy when you view embedded video.
- Discord โ links to Discord servers are provided for community purposes. Discord’s own privacy policy governs any account you create there.
- Second Life โ SLURLs (Second Life location links) take you into the Second Life virtual world platform, governed by Linden Lab’s privacy policy.
- Social media โ links to our Facebook, YouTube, Discord, X (Twitter), Instagram, and Primfeed pages are governed by each platform’s own privacy practices.
- American Cancer Society โ our donation link takes you to cancer.org’s official site, governed by their privacy policy.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites.
Data Retention
We retain staff account information for as long as the account remains active, plus a reasonable period afterward in case it needs to be reactivated. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Your Rights, below).
Your Privacy Rights
Regardless of where you live, you may contact us at any time to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Request a correction to inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and personal information
- Withdraw consent for any optional data use
If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. We do not sell or share personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration, so there is no need to opt out of a sale that doesn’t happen.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
Children’s Privacy
Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Second Life itself requires users to meet its own age requirements to create an account. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
International Visitors
Our community spans many countries through Second Life. By using our site, you understand your information may be processed in the country where our servers are hosted, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
